3 Teas To Eliminate Intestinal Gas

Herbal teas are an excellent home alternative to help eliminate intestinal gas because they reduce bloating and pain and can be taken as soon as symptoms arise or as part of your daily routine. 

Apart from teas, it is also important to practice exercise, drink plenty of water and have a light diet based on vegetable and fruit soups, avoiding foods that cause gas, such as beans, sweet potato, cabbage and cauliflower. 

1. Peppermint tea

Peppermint is one of the plants that possibly has the greatest effect on excess gases thanks to its carminative properties, as several studies prove its effectiveness in reducing intestinal symptoms in people with irritable bowel syndrome. 

Likewise, this plant also has a relaxing effect that helps reduce tension in the muscles of the digestive system, facilitating the release of gases.

  • 6 fresh mint leaves or 10 grams of dried leaves;
  • 1 cup of boiling water.

    Combine the ingredients in a cup and let steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Then strain, let it get warm and drink 3 to 4 times a day, or whenever necessary. 

    Ideally, mint should be fresh before brewing for best results; however, dried mint leaves can also be used. 

    2. Green anise tea

    This is another plant very well studied to reduce the amount of intestinal gas, which is used in various cultures for this purpose. In addition to decreasing the amount of gas, anise also prevents abdominal cramping and relieves stomach pain.

  • 1 tablespoon of green anise;
  • 1 cup of boiling water.
  • How to prepare

    Place the anise is a cup and cover with boiling water. Let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes, strain and then drink. Perform 2 to 3 times a day after meals.

  • 1 tablespoon of lemon balm leaves;
  • 1 cup of boiling water.
  • Method of preparation

    Add the leaves to the cup of boiling water, cover and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Then strain and drink 2 to 3 times a day. 

    It is important not to add sugar or honey, as this also favors the production of gases.
