Black bean tostadas with guacamole is one of my favorite weeknight meals to make for my family. It is easy to make and they are so delicious. These tostadas have a lot of flavor and leave you feeling satisfied. In this post I include a recipe for the tostadas and a separate recipe for my homemade guacamole.
Why you Will Love These Tostadas
This recipe makes for a great vegetarian meal that is full of flavor and that satisfies hunger. It is easy to make and works well for busy weeknights. It is also easy to customize to your preferences. For example, if you like pinto beans better than black beans, feel free to use pinto beans. You can also use your favorite toppings. I prefer shredded romaine and quesadilla cheese on my tostadas. Feel free to add other toppings like salsa, sliced radish, cotija cheese, cilantro, diced tomato or spinach for example.

The black bean tostadas only require several ingredients including tostadas, avocado oil, black beans, seasonings, and the topping you prefer to use. The seasonings I like to use include chile lime seasoning and chimichurri seasoning. You can find the chile lime seasoning here and the chimichurri seasoning here. I use these seasonings often for several other recipes too, so they are really great to have on hand!
Be sure to add the guacamole to your tostada before adding the beans and toppings! The guacamole adds a great deal of flavor and nutrition, and also helps the toppings stick.
The guacamole is made with 5 simple ingredients: avocados, lemon juice, red onion, cilantro and kosher salt. I love how these basic ingredients make such a beautiful and delicious dish!
Nutrition Facts
One black bean tostada with guacamole has about 252 calories, 6.5 gm protein, 29 gm carbohydrate and 14 gm fat. As avocado is a big source of healthy fats, 12 of the 14 gm of fat are unsaturated fats from avocado. If you want a meal with less fat you can always use less guacamole.
It is notable that one black bean tostada with guacamole has 10.5 gm fiber! The fiber comes from the black beans, avocado and the tostada itself.
One tostada has 508 mg sodium based on my nutrient analysis. However, that is the sodium content without draining and rinsing the beans. While this recipe will have less sodium than what the nutrient analysis says, I do not have accurate sodium content after the beans are drained and rinsed (which is what the recipe calls for), so I just included the full amount of sodium.
What to Serve Alongside Black Bean Tostadas With Guacamole
These tostadas go great with a fresh vegetable like sliced cucumbers, baby carrots or salad. I also love to serve these with mango, either fresh or frozen (frozen mango seems more like a treat!). Of course, you can also pair this with tortillas chips and more guacamole!
