About Kristyn

Hi everyone, I’m Kristyn, a registered and licensed dietitian nutritionist, and a certified diabetes educator. I live in a northwest suburb of Chicago with my husband and 3 children. Pursuing a healthy and wholesome lifestyle for myself and my family has always been a priority for me. In this space I am excited to share my passion for food and nutrition with you!

My interest in both food and nutrition started in high school but I didn’t know I was able to make a career out of these interests. While spending time in my school’s career resource center, I happened upon a description of a dietitian. It was in that moment I knew exactly what I wanted to pursue for my career choice.

Fast forward to 2009, I finished my undergraduate degree at Dominican University. In 2011 I completed my dietetic internship and graduate degree at Rush University Medical Center, in Chicago. I have been a practicing dietitian for 13 years now and I am a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Currently, I teach college courses at a local university. My classes are centered around nutrition, metabolism and also general health & wellness.

Prior to teaching I worked several years in the acute care setting in a hospital. I have cared for inpatients on various units including the ICU, general medical units, cardiac units, oncology units, inpatient rehab, etc. I have also worked in the outpatient setting providing nutrition education to both individuals and groups. My very first dietitian job was in long term care in a nursing home and rehabilitation center. Additionally, I have given nutrition focused presentations to various businesses to educate employees about healthy eating.

One of the things I love about being a dietitian is that there are so many different ways to use my profession!

Along with evidence based nutrition information I enjoy sharing recipes and cooking videos (I’ve always dreamed of having my own cooking show!). I will also be sharing some fun and wholesome lifestyle posts, to give you a look into my life as a dietitian. I hope that you enjoy your time here!
